I am so flattered when friends or other women compliment my complexion & ask what my regimen is for my skin. I haven’t stuck with one magic product or ingredient over the years but I love composing my routine of organic, natural products. My skin has certainly responded best since doing so!
Skin care products often scare me off with their long list of unpronounceable ingredients or frightening chemicals! I like to keep it simple & keep it healthy. After all, our skin is our largest organ & absorbs everything we put into it.
For cleansing, I love to exfoliate about once a week and to use a quenching toner every day. Recently, I rediscovered witch hazel & wanted to find the best way to incorporate it into my regimen!
Now, after trying a few different recipes, I introduce you to a CEDARWOOD LAVENDER TONER. You (& your skin) are going to love it!
WITCH HAZEL | Witch hazel is a lovely base for a toner because it is so mild. It’s a wonderful, light astringent which moisturizes while it cleanses. It helps to tone, tighten and is really good for acne prone or oily skin due to it’s mild antibacterial properties. Even if you’re not acne prone or oily, your skin will love how refreshing & rejuvenating it is! (I definitely recommend Thayer’s – although don’t get the medicated version shown in the photos)
CEDARWOOD ESSENTIAL OIL | Cedarwood, with it’s woody aroma, has regenerative and astringent properties to help promote clear, healthy skin. It protects the skin from toxins and bacteria making for a clearer complexion. It’s also known for it’s grounding properties & is a great oil to soothe anxiousness & promote calm.
LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL | Lavender is one of the most versatile essential oils. We use it in our home for so many things–linen spray, laundry, in the diffuser, on our feet at night–and of course, for skin care! Lavender works wonderful for some people for the treatment of blemishes, personally I don’t use it as a spot treatment, although some swear by it. (I share my spot treatment tip below) Lavender also helps to rebalance, acts as an anti-inflammatory and reduces the appearance of scarring. Lavender tones + revitalizes the skin, making it beneficial for all skin types in a toner like this!
RECIPE:
Fill an empty glass bottle (I got mine at World Market) with Witch Hazel until it’s mostly full. It’s important to use glass because essential oils will eat away at plastic.
Add 10-15 drops of Cedarwood + 10-15 drops of Lavender. Shake it up before using & then apply to cotton balls & swab your face! I love to use this at night before I go to bed or to refresh my face after a flight!
EXTRA TIP* For any blemishes that happen to pop up, my go to is Melaleuca (aka Tea Tree Oil)! It’s the best replacement for acne cream & zaps those nasty pimples! I just apply topically to the pimple once in the morning & once at night until they disappear!
I love the natural element that using essential oils adds to our home. I am an avid essential oil user & a Young Living Essential Oils Distributor.
