HERE ARE (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION) THE BEST HIKES IN UTAH
BALD MOUNTAIN
Elevation: 11,942 ft
Length: 4 miles round trip
Nestled in the Uinta mountains is this incredible hike which takes you to a summit overlooking 15+ lakes! The view is incredible & the moderately challenging hike is a wonderful way to spend a day! You can find driving directions here.
CECRET LAKE + ALBION BASIN
Elevation: 9,750 ft
Length: 1.5 miles round trip
I recommend this hike at anytime of day throughout the early summer to fall! The wildflowers in Albion Basin during late summer are spectacular and it’s a site you definitely must see in Utah! Following Albion Basin is the Cecret Lake trailhead–a quick hike with a beautiful pay off! You can do a quick sunrise hike like we did this day, or you can pack a picnic & spend an afternoon! You can find driving directions here.
BLOOD’S LAKE
Elevation: approx 9,300 ft
Length: 1 mile round trip
This short, easy hike is so gorgeous. The lake is stellar & there is even a rope swing to play on during those hot summer months! Grab your friends & head up for an all day adventure! The pups are welcome too : ) You can find driving directions here.
DIAMOND FORK HOT SPRINGS
Elevation: 6,307 ft
Length: 4.8 miles round trip
Diamond Fork Hot Springs (also known as Fifth Water Hot Springs) has been one of my favorite hikes for years! We trekked up to these natural wonders just a few days ago (we had never done it in the fall before) & wow is it gorgeous! The fall colors were exploding & so beautiful contrasting next to the blue. The hike is gradual & moderately easy for any age and the treasure at the top are milky blue hot springs that you can hangout in all day! The water really is that blue. I highly recommend this hike! You can find driving directions here.
ENSIGN PEAK
Elevation: 5,414 ft
Length: 1 mile round trip
Again, Ensign Peak has been a favorite of ours for years! With such a short climb to the top & almost 360º views of the Salt Lake valley–it’s one you shouldn’t miss! I recommend heading up with your favorite humans around sunset time – the twinkling city lights are mesmerizing around that time. It’s a wonderful place to slow down & chat. Such stellar views! You can find driving directions here.
BRIDAL VEIL FALLS
Elevation: 5,141 ft
Length: less than 1 mile round trip
While Aaron’s family was in town, we were driving down Provo Canyon from having lunch at Sundance Resort. Once they spotted the gorgeous waterfall from the car, we knew we had to stop! It’s a short hike up & the waterfall is magnificent. We got soaked on the way down & it was so fun! If you’re in the area, I say you hop out of the car & get a different perspective! You can find driving directions here.
I would love to know what editing program you use to edit your photos – they are absolutely gorgeous! Loving your blog lady!

Aww thank you so much!! That means the world. I use VSCO! What do you use?
I love that these are different from all of the standard hikes. This is a great list and I can’t wait to try some of these this Summer! Thanks for sharing :)
I am so glad I found your blog! These are amazing and I’ve added almost everyone to my list of things to do with the kids this summer :-) which ones do you think are the best for little kids?
Just came across this post – I love it! So now that you’re back here for a minute let’s get together!
PS, what’s the best time of year to go to Diamond Fork you think? I haven’t done it yet and need to do it this year.
Hey lady! I just flew out again on Tuesday because of a family emergency but will touch base when I’m back. Diamond Fork is lovely at all times of the year – I love it in the summer (June, July, August) and the fall time is GORGEOUS! Although, I hear it’s really fun to snowshoe into too! Let me know when you go & how you like it :)
Hello! I’m in Utah and hoping to go to the hot springs, but was just wondering if the hike is dog friendly?
Hey there! Yes, it is dog friendly!
Do you take these pictures with a camera or your phone? They’re beautiful!
Both! I love to use my DSLR but the iPhone is also a powerful tool. Thank you for your kind words + for reading!
Hey, beautiful photos…
What time of year did you go to these places, the flower fields are a must!
