CHECKING INTO: THE TRENDIEST HOTEL IN WAIKIKI
First thought when we arrived: I LOVE EVERYTHING! I couldn’t help but notice and adore each detail at the Laylow Waikiki! From the custom printed wallpaper, towels + even flip flops to their branded coasters, custom toiletries and awesome books in the room – not a detail went unnoticed! As a photographer and someone who loves design, I was inspired as soon as I walked on the property.
To be completely transparent, I definitely laid low during our weekend spent in O’ahu. . . We were traveling back to Hawai’i from Maine and before going back to the big island, we decided to stop in Honolulu for a fun little weekend to decompress and relax after a hard trip to the east coast. Sadly, our trip didn’t really go as planned! As soon as we got off the plane, I already felt that I had caught some sort of flu bug and was feeling worse and worse by the minute. Long story short, I ended up spending the next few days in (the room’s comfy, comfy) bed, lounging around the hotel property and consuming copious amounts of tea.
Regardless of not being able to get out and explore the island like we usually do when we travel, we soaked up all the hotel had to offer – even the rad pool for a few hours on our last day! – and really enjoyed our stay at the Laylow Waikiki. I am so thankful to have had such a comfortable and centrally located place to be especially since I wasn’t feeling well! Aaron was able to get me all the remedies I needed from the shop next door + food, cold pressed juice, etc. right near by. The hotel is walking distance to many restaurants, shops (some of my favorites are listed in my Travel Guide to O’ahu) + Waikiki Beach. And since we were so close, Aaron surfed Waikiki Beach twice at sunrise and loved it!
Also, the hotel restaurant and coffee shop, Hideout at the Laylow, is LOVELY! Again, details. But also really tasty food + drinks (try the poke tacos)! Aaron ordered dinner from Hideout a couple nights and the coconut milk latte I had one morning was delish.
Overall, we loved this little oasis in the middle of Waikiki. Definitely left inspired with more than a few ideas for our home – like wanting to get some cute tiki mugs like theirs for our kitchen! Nothing went unnoticed when they created this hotel and I really appreciate that. Hoping to go back soon and to feel more like a human and less like a zombie this time around!
See you soon, Laylow. We loved ya!
